Journaling. How and why

Years ago I was talking with a friend about how I just couldn't get a good nights sleep. I kept having stress dreams that would wake me up over and over. It sucked.

She suggested I try journaling, it was something she did to help clear her head. I was pretty skeptical at first, I'm actually pretty skeptical about everything at first. After a few days I finally busted out an old notebook and gave it a try.

I had no idea what I was doing, or what I should write, so I just wrote down whatever came out. What I did that day. Things that pissed me off. How a coworker really got under my skin. You get the idea. It wasn't profound writing, it was just word vomit on paper.

That night I slept great. I was now a believer.

Since then I have had times where I journal regularly and times when I only pull out my notebook when I'm feeling overwhelmed. It always helps though. It helps to relive stress, to figure things out, to remember awesome things that happened. There really isn't a down side to this.

Because I love you, and I want you to give this a go whether you've never journaled before, or are a sometimes journaler like me, I created a how and why guide to journaling to share with you. It even has journaling prompts to help you get to writing when you are feeling stuck.
